About the Item
This is an original unique oil painting by the artist, Marcel Gatteaux. He was born in London in 1962 and started drawing and painting from an early age. Following studies at Camberwell Art School, he undertook a long apprenticeship to become a picture-restorer, graduating in 1986, whilst still continuing to paint. He started exhibiting his work in 1987 and has had nine solo exhibitions at the Caelt Gallery in Notting Hill.
The artist is based in London and travels frequently to Europe, particularly to Southern France where hs draws inspiration from the Mediterranean light and colour. His unique, post-impressionist style oil paintings of Provence, Greece, Venice and also Marrakesh have attracted a strong following.

Marcel Gatteaux
Marcel Gatteaux was born in London in 1962. Gatteaux started drawing and painting at an early age. Following studies at Camberwell Art School and while continuing to paint, Gatteaux undertook a long apprenticeship to become a picture-restorer, graduating in 1986. Gatteaux lives in London and travels frequently to Europe, particularly to Southern France, drawing inspiration from Mediterranean color, heat and light.
